What is the Social Network?

The Social Network is a program that encourages public sector bodies (deconcentrated services and local authorities), solidarity institutions and other entities working in the area of social action to combine their efforts to prevent, alleviate or eradicate situations of poverty and exclusion and promote local social development through working in partnership.

The work of the Social Network must allow for greater adequacy and improvement in the quality of services provided to citizens in general and, in particular, to those who are in a vulnerable situation.

Local Council for Social Action

The Local Councils for Social Action (CLAS) are municipal structures for the functioning of the Social Network Program, according to the logic of "forum of articulation and joining of efforts", opening up to the participation of non-profit private entities, Public Administration bodies , established in this area, representative organizations of the economic sector, among others. The CLAS are created with the aim of planning in an integrated manner and guaranteeing the implementation of local social development initiatives, with a view to greater efficiency and rationalization of means in the eradication of poverty and social exclusion.

Executive Nucleus

The Executive Nucleus (NE) is the operative body of the Social Network and is compulsorily made up of the Municipality of Mesão Cold, Social Security and non-profit entities with social intervention in the county, where the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Mesão Cold is located.
