Intervention areas

The Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Mesão Frio is a Private Institution of Social Solidarity that develops activities within the municipality and district, through the development and maintenance of social responses aimed at children and youth, seniors, employment and citizenship, health and the community in general .

The Institution operates in early and second childhood, through the Nursery and Free Time Activities Center. With these social responses, it is intended to contribute to the full development of the child through their potential and, at the same time, collaborate with the families and enable them to have a better knowledge of this, for a perfect performance in the educational process. It also has social responses aimed at the elderly and the community in general, as well as acting in the area of disability, such as the Residential Structures for the Elderly (ERPI), the Day Centre, the Home Support Service and the Home Support Service Integrated. With these features, it is intended to improve the quality of life of individuals and families, providing physical care and psycho-social support, in order to contribute to their balance and well-being, filling and/or minimizing situations of social isolation and delaying institutionalization.

However, the Misericórdia de Mesão Frio, as the only active IPSS in the municipality of Mesão Frio, plays a fundamental role in the community, and therefore extends its intervention to the area of Employment and Citizenship, with the Professional Insertion Office and the Local Bank of Volunteering, health and support to all who directly or indirectly experience situations of poverty and/or social exclusion.
