Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth at Risk (CPCJ) of Mesão Frio

What is CPCJ?

The CPCJ is an official non-judicial institution with functional autonomy that aims to promote the rights of children and young people and prevent or put an end to situations likely to affect their safety, health, training, education or integral development. (cf. No. 1 of article 12 of Law 147/99 of 1 September 1999).

Who is it for?

To children and young people under the age of 18 or the person under the age of 21 who requests the continuation of the intervention started before reaching the age of 18 who find themselves in the following situations:

a) It is abandoned or lives on its own;

b) Suffers physical or psychological abuse or is a victim of sexual abuse;

c) Does not receive the care or affection appropriate to his age and personal situation;

d) Is required to perform activities or work that are excessive or inappropriate to their age, dignity and personal situation or harmful to their training or development;

e) Is subject, directly or indirectly, to behaviors that seriously affect their security or emotional balance;

f) Undertakes behaviors or engages in activities or consumptions that seriously affect their health, safety, training, education or development without the parents, legal representative or de facto custodian opposing them in an adequate way to remove this situation. .

The role of Santa Cada da Misericórdia in the CPCJ

Santa Casa is represented by 2 technicians who participate in the following activities:

- Restricted and extended modality meetings;

- Processes management;

- Actions developed at the level of prevention and awareness of the community for the protection of children and/or young people.
