2015 Vintage Parade

The Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Mesão Frio, as in previous years, promoted, on September 11, the Vintage Parade, at 9 pm.
The parade was essentially marked by good mood, traditional singing, floats and costumes dressed to the letter.
This initiative had the participation of children, elderly and employees of the Institution. It also includes the traditional singing group «O Arrais do Douro» and the support of the five parish councils in the municipality of Mesão Frio.
The parade began at Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Mesão Frio, towards Largo da Independência, passing by Rua Sampaio Moreira, by Avenida Conselheiro José Maria Alpoim to Largo do Cruzeiro and returning to Misericórdia by Avenida Dr. Domingos Monteiro.
At the end of the parade, at 10 pm, the performance of "Banda Projeto" followed on Avenida Conselheiro José Maria Alopim.
The parade's main objective is to promote intergenerational interaction between users, employees of the institution and the community in general. As Mesão Frio is considered the "Douro Gate" and wine and vine culture plays an important role in the local economy, celebrating the harvest season is, on the one hand, to empower the municipality, and on the other hand, to involve local institutions at cultural events.
